Jake’s Eve

IMG_8008   jake   As I was sitting on the couch at midnight tonight, it made me think of what I was up to at this time 11 years ago.  I was on my way to the hospital!!!  I was 9 months pregnant with Jake and IT WAS TIME!  We got to the hospital just before my labor pains went into full gear.  I went through labor all night long and luckily didn't feel much because I opted for an epidural (one of the best decisions I've ever made)!!!  However, it wore off come morning and the nurse wasn't paying to much attention to me until it was TOO LATE.  So, I had my 8 lb 13 oz baby without a lot of help from pain meds.  I can't say it was the easiest thing I've even done...but it sure has been one of the best things ever.  I still remember getting mad at everyone when they called my baby huge, gigantic, enormous, etc etc because he was my tiny little bundle of joy.  Then I saw him next to the other babies in the hospital nursery and realized he was a bit bigger than the other newborns.  That didn't matter one little bit because he was so cute and happy and I loved holding and cuddling him.  Now he doesn't like to cuddle AT ALL and is very independent.  My mom used to tell me I was not real cuddly either when I was a baby.  Even thought I don't get to kiss and hug him much, that's ok because he's still my baby and I'm so glad he's mine!
